Sri Lanka,

The gems of Sri Lanka are woven into his history. The Mahavansa, the ancient chronicle of Sri Lanka too mentionedabout gems and jewelry. King Solomon is report to have brought gems from this island.  The great traveler, Marco polo, is Sai to have been amaze by a priceless wrist in the possession of the king, which was record by Sri Lanka as a “gap” long, flaw, incomparably bright.  Sri Lanka “Ratna Deepa” (Gem Island).  Some of the world’s rarest gems are fount in abundance under our feet and in the mountains above us. So Sri Lanka’s sapphire weighs 466 carats and is one of the world’s most famous gems. The world’s largest sapphire a weight of 19 kg was also fount here.  Among other famous gems is the blue giant the orient, which weighs about 500 carats, and the blue bell, which weighs 400 carats. Because famous Sri Lankan sapphires on display at the Natural History Museum new year but due to oversight the stone is known as the star of India.

Throughout history, Sri Lankan gems and jewelry have adorned many royal family crowns.  A 105 carat cat’s eye gem found in a paddy field in Sri Lanka has gained a reputation among British royalty and has been successfully acclaim by Edward Will, George 5, Edward Will and Queen Elizabeth. because The process of mining for gems begins at auspicious times with a short religious ritual. There are more common methods of mining, depending on the location of the tunnel and the type of deposit. So the stones are usually fount in a rough layer, Surface gemstones, and quarries containing particles of clay and fine. These gem-containing gravels are known as “items” and are found beneath alluvial deposits. The world’s rarest gem Alexandrian is fount in Sri Lanka. So

There are two types of gems. The shallow ones are well-shape and round and the gems in the deep pits are rectangular. Scaffolding is make to prevent damage to the walls of the pits. Water is then pump from the well.  If the “ilam” veins run horizontally, tuning should be done.  Another method of collecting ilam is to place wooden poles across a river bed and stand on a pole with a long stick, and a person pulls out the gravel and casts it on him.  This is then add to the buckets.

Somehow the gravel is wash in large round buckets and they are submerge in water and rotate.  This allows you to get rid of light, ordinary pebbles and sediments and go after heavy pebbles. 

The basket is then place against the sun and sorting is do.  Each type of “imam” carries a variety of stones.  The main source of alexandrite, the world’s rarest gem in Sri Lanka, was the first pound in the Urals in 1830, and was name after Tsar Alexander II at the time of its discovery. The stone glows green in natural light but turns raspberry red in artificial light.  The cat’s eye is another stone that is consider precious and rare.  A silver line runs across its greenish gray surface, giving it a striking resemblance to a cat’s eye. So the rarest type is the black cat’s ear.  Sri Lanka can be proud of having 17 antecedent and semi-precious stones. Because The most notable ones are Sapphire, Alexandrite, Stay Ruby, Yellow Sapphire, Star Soup Fire, Amethyst, Garnet and Moonstone.
